Fundraising with Night at the Races is a great fundraising event ideas for your organization. Sports Fundraising Ideas are one of the biggest needs in today's climate of youth sports. Night at the races are truly a series of 50/50 raffles where your attendees pick from a number associated with a horse name (that you sell the naming rights to each horse) and we randomly draw from 10 races every race where 1-10 can only win once per 10 picks. So, we run a true 50/50 raffle off of 10 numbers. The fun is watch the horses round the track and people root for their number. That winning horse will produce a number where we will split the pot between your organization and the ticket holders. Each ticket will receive their share of the winnings. We do that for 10 races and then auction off the 11th race (where you will have to buy the larger raffle for the raffle, along with your 50/50 which should exceed the $500 threshold as well.) The auction works out where you can still bet the numbers but also, the winning horse owner(s) will receive 50% of the proceeds from the sale of the horses for the 11th race.
